The trolley furnace plays a huge role in industrial production, but if there is a problem with its power connection, the consequences can be unimaginable. What electrical safety issues should we pay attention to when connecting the power supply of the trolley furnace?
The trolley furnace must be reliably grounded. Grounding can introduce current into the ground when equipment leaks, avoiding electric shock to operators. To ensure that the grounding resistance meets safety standards, it should generally not exceed 4 ohms. When connecting the grounding line, it is necessary to choose a suitable specification of copper wire to ensure sufficient conductivity, and the connection point should be firm. Regularly check for looseness, corrosion, and other conditions.
Choose a power cord with a suitable cross-sectional area based on the power of the trolley furnace. If the power cord is too thin, it will generate a large resistance when transmitting high currents, causing the circuit to heat up, and in severe cases, even causing a fire. For example, a 50kW trolley furnace may require the selection of copper core cables with an area of 25 square millimeters or more based on safe current carrying capacity calculations. At the same time, attention should be paid to the insulation performance of the power cord to avoid damage, aging, and other situations, and to prevent leakage accidents.
Leakage protection switch is an important line of defense to ensure electrical safety. At the power inlet of the trolley furnace, it is necessary to install a leakage protection switch with appropriate rated current and leakage action current. Generally speaking, the leakage action current is selected to be below 30mA, so that when a leakage occurs in the circuit, the leakage protection switch can quickly cut off the power supply, protecting personnel and equipment safety.
When wiring, avoid crossing or winding power lines to prevent problems such as wear and short circuits caused by disorderly wiring. Regularly check the power connection circuit to see if there are any abnormal heating, odor, ignition, or other phenomena. Once a problem is discovered, it is necessary to promptly shut down for maintenance and eliminate safety hazards.
