What Is The Working Principle of Pit Furnace

Working Principle of Pit Furnace

Pit furnace is a vertically installed industrial furnace mainly used for heating long workpieces or parts that need to be placed vertically.

The workflow is as follows:

Workpiece loading:

The workpiece is loaded into it from the top of the pit furnace, usually operated by a hoist or winch.

The interior of the furnace can be heated using electric heating elements (resistance wires) or gas/liquid fuels.

Heating and insulation:

The pit furnace heats the workpiece to the desired quenching temperature by controlling the temperature and time, and maintains it for a certain period of time to ensure uniform heating of the workpiece.

The temperature distribution inside the furnace can be optimized through layered temperature control technology to avoid excessive temperature differences between the upper and lower parts.

Preparation for release:

After heating is completed, the workpiece moves with the furnace to the cooling position (usually above the quenching oil tank).

Use a hoist or other lifting device on the furnace top to quickly remove the workpiece from the furnace bottom door.

Quick transfer:

After the workpiece is discharged from the pit furnace, it is quickly transferred to the quenching oil tank to reduce the time it stays in the air, thereby reducing the temperature drop and oxidation risk.
